Join us for this weekend retreat at the Studio for the Healing Arts in Norfolk, VA. Learn how every nightly dream offers a new perspective to your waking consciousness--an extraordinary depth of information about your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being not typically available to your waking mind.

Based on David Gordon’s book Mindful Dreaming, he and Dani Vedros will show you how to move beyond intellectual insights about your dreams to experience the deeper knowing that comes from embodying dream wisdom.

Relying on thought-provoking exercises and abundant examples, this workshop demonstrates how dreams provide a non-judgmental and compassionate mirror that reflects our ongoing progress on the Journey to mindfulness. The practice of Mindful Dreaming allows us to overcome the emotional blocks that keep us feeling stuck and conflicted in personal relationships, frustrated in work, or stagnating in our creative goals.

The famed mythologist Joseph Campbell spoke of the four stages of the Mythic Journey present universally in our ancient fables and fairy tales, modern literature and film. These four stages –The Calling-Quest-Illumination and Return–are a fourfold cycle that guides the birth and development of every discovery, invention, work of art—and dream. Based on David's book this workshop emphasizes the relationship between the stages of the Journey and our nightly dreams, with special  focus on the manner in which our dreams prompt us to embrace ten perennial lessons in mindfulness that correspond to the phases of our Journey.

Mindful Dreaming teaches the simple metaphorical language of dreams and how they prompt us to be mindful of releasing the five habits of thought at the core of our suffering, and embracing the five perennial values of our wiser Self.

Speaking in the simple language of metaphor:

Dreams prompt us to become mindful of distraction and embrace the value of solitude. Relaxing our grip on control, our dreams open us to guidance from the Source. Helping us see through the illusion of permanence, they teach us to release attachments and grieve the limitations and losses that life imposes. Mindful of our destructive rush to judgment, our dreams help us embrace compassion for our own suffering—not just that of others. Most importantly, dreams teach us mindfulness of our impatience so that we may live more consciously and fully awake in the present moment.

Attendees discover that as we practice and embrace these lessons the content of our dreams shifts and moves us forward through each of the four phases of our personal Journey—lessons that lead us to experience the healing and change we are seeking and to embrace our Calling.

You will return home with an integrated practice grounded each night in the guiding and profoundly healing values of your dreams.
